Today, was a pretty busy day for me and my family in general. My Aunt Joyce passed away and her services were today. Thinking back on some memories of her from when I was younger; about four-years-old to be precise, she used to come over and tutor me, I remember enjoying it and hating it all at the same time. I hated having to actually sit on a chair, and try to sit still for a couple hours, but loved the bribe of M&M’s to actually say m and m, since I had a huge issue with m’s and n’s and remember thinking they were the same letters back then. That was also when my family realized I was left-handed.
My favorite pass time with my Aunt was garage sale’s on the weekends when I was around eight. I don’t really know why I loved garage sale’s so much back then, maybe it was being able to go out with my Aunt and cousin who usually came with, some times she would take us to the beach too.
My Aunt moved to California a long time ago, and I didn’t really see her that much, but always thought about her and the other family that moved and lives out there.
She became an elementary school teacher, and married out there around ninety-seven, which I flew out for the wedding and reception with some family. For the most part the reception was a blur to me other than Karaoke, that turned out to be surprisingly fun. I remember my dad and his three-brother’s singing Hotel California. Most of my other memories of that wedding were the toilet and the bushes.
Some of the other memories was how my Aunt would always speak her mind when she felt she needed to. She will be missed.
On a lighter note, I was able to see some family that I haven’t seen for sixteen years or so, and they all looked good and are doing well. I was glad to be able to spend some time with them. It was nice to see them after so long and reconnect with them. The one thing people should know is, we love to drink and we’re rowdy when we get together.
I enjoyed some of the memories that other family members had of my Aunt.
Have a good week
